A representative of the teenager has claimed that his
move to the Catalan club will not be prevented by the transfer ban
imposed on the club by FIFA
A lawyer representing Alen Halilovic has said that the proposed move of the 17-year-old Croatian from Dinamo Zagreb to Barcelona will go through, despite the club's transfer ban.
FIFA has imposed a 14-month suspension on the Blaugrana's transfer activity, citing irregularities in the club's acquisition of 10 young players in recent years.
Jean Louis Dupont, however, believes the ban will not affect Halilovic's move as the deal was already secured prior to FIFA's sanction.
"I can't imagine that my client will not play for Barcelona. This is a pre-penalty operation," said Dupont, speaking to radio station RAC1.
Dupont also added his belief that FIFA is at risk of denying young players a better quality of life by imposing such sanctions.
"FIFA has done well in identifying there's a problem but I think they are giving out the wrong medicine. If FIFA's ban doesn't allow a future for a child and his family, then it's wrong.
"It strikes me that if Barca sign a kid of 11, guarantees are given that he will have proper training in a good environment."
Barcelona has confirmed it will appeal against FIFA's decision
